New IT trends not only offer opportunities but also present challenges for Polish companies. Investments in modern IT solutions are becoming a crucial element of strategy for many enterprises. Artificial intelligence (AI) addresses the needs for process optimization, increasing production efficiency, reducing IT infrastructure costs, better data protection against cyber threats, and developing sustainable development strategies.
According to the Gartner Institute, global IT investments reached $4.6 trillion by the end of 2023, confirming the growing interest in technology in business.
In this context, AI plays a crucial role, not only dominating the business world but also contributing to the automation of business processes and increasing production efficiency. New possibilities of generative AI (GenAI) further expand the horizons of technology adaptation to the needs of contemporary enterprises.
Half of the workforce can benefit from AI
Introducing AI into Polish companies has the potential to bring significant benefits, but this requires appropriate infrastructure and employee training. According to the “Wired for AI” report prepared by EY and Liberty Global, almost half of the jobs (49%) in Poland can benefit from AI implementation.
AI can be very useful in many professions, not only in the most technologically advanced ones. However, there is a catch: only about one-third of jobs will truly benefit from full AI adaptation. Full utilization of the potential of AI requires solid infrastructure and adequately trained employees.
As Dorota Gardoń from the Katowice-based company BPSC, quoted by PAP, pointed out: “As we can see, the potential is significant, but to fully utilize the benefits of AI, strategic actions in the field of education and training of employees, as well as investments in technology and digital networks, are necessary.”
New AI Trends: Poland can gain 4.9 million jobs
Support for daily work through AI is undeniable. This technology allows for the automation of routine tasks, enabling employees to focus on more complex projects. As assessed by the authors of the “Wired for AI” report, thanks to AI, the Polish economy can achieve efficiency equivalent to an additional 4.9 million jobs, which constitutes 30% of the total employment in the country.
IT technology experts believe that the greatest beneficiaries of the widespread adoption of AI will be individuals starting their careers and high-level specialists. Meanwhile, employees in positions easily automated will need to acquire new skills.
“The job market will undoubtedly have to adapt to new realities. Some professions may become less necessary, while others, especially those related to information technology and data management, will gain importance. Education and training will be crucial to ensure that AI is not a competition for workers but efficient assistance,” added Dorota Gardoń.
Profits Counted in Billions
Integrating AI with the Polish labor market opens up new opportunities, counted in billions of dollars. The benefits of AI integration can add value equivalent to $90 billion annually to the Polish economy. However, to achieve this, investments in education and employee training, as well as the development of technological infrastructure, are necessary.
Introducing AI into Polish companies is not just a matter of financial gain. It is also a challenge for the job market, which will have to adapt to new realities. Education and training are key to effective collaboration between employees and new, digital technologies. Some professions may become less necessary, while others, especially those related to information technology and data management, will gain importance.
